ANSWERS TO SOME "UNCOMMON" FAQ'S ABOUT TRAINS !!!!

 TODAY I AM GOING TO ANSWER SOME REALLY " UNCOMMON"  QUESTIONS ABOUT TRAINS !!! IN TODAY'S BLOG YOU WILL LEARN MANY NEW THINGS , I ASSURE !!

IN WHICH MR. DP CHOUDHRY - SUGGESTED ABOUT THE CONNECTIVITY OF HOWRAH BRIDGE . I WOULD LIKE TO THANK HIM AS MY VISITOR COMMENT ME EITHER ABOUT MISTAKES AND SUGGESTIONS ,  I FEEL MOTIVATED IN ORDER TO IMPROVE MY ARTICLES.
ALSO , I SAID THAT HOWRAH BRIDGE CONNECTS HOWRAH TO REST OF INDIA BECAUSE IN MY JOURNEY , THE NEW DELHI- HOWRAH RAJDHANI WAS BOUNDED TO THIS FAMOUS HOWRAH BRIDGE .

NOW LETS BEGIN TODAY'S  " UNCOMMON " TOPIC !!!!!

Q-1) For what trains are used ?

Ans) Trains are basically used for transportation of heavy and bulky goods and large number of passengers over long distances at much lower costs than that of other means of transport. But trains were initially introduced for transportation of the coal from the mines to other places , as the technology increased the trains were started to transport  the passengers from one place to another.

Q-2) Are trains safer than other means of transport ?

Ans) The answer to this question is neither they are COMPLETELY safe nor they are unsafe. All means of transport have same level of safety , but it depends to the conditions in which the trains are running. for example train travel in a high mountain like terrain ( like in Shimla) is a little scary than the train travel in a normal terrain. Also this depends from one person to another.

Q-3) What is the mileage of a diesel engine ?

Ans) The Mileage of  a diesel locomotive totally depends on some factors like :                                       
a) The MODEL of that diesel engine.
b) The MASS of the train it is pulling.
c) The TERRAIN in which it is moving. ( consumption of fuel will be more in climbing an inclined plane )
d) The AGE of the locomotive. ( old one will consume more fuel than the new one )
So ,there is no fixed answer of this question.

Q-4) How trains turn on the curves ?

Ans) This was one of the most challenging question for the engineers in initial period of trains. The answer to this question involves a little physics , but I will explain in very simple terms !! many a times you may have noticed that the wheels of trains are not in shape like that of a car or truck,   they are in a somewhat conical, let's say frustum in shape.

 Frustum is formed when we cut the pointed part of the cone, after which there are 2 circular faces remain on both sides of the remaining part ( not the pointed one !!) in which one is small and other side has larger radius. When train is moving in straight track the part with larger radius is in contact with rails and on a curve the part with smaller radius gets contact with the rails (only on the curves ), hence turning the train.

Q-5) Can putting a stone on rail, derail a train ?

Ans) May be the train can derail even by putting a stone on rails, but this incident  very rarely occurs.     But normally it does not happen . However narrow gauge type trains can easily derail if this happens.

BUT I SUGGEST THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER EVER DO SUCH KIND OF EXPERIMENT AS THIS CAN EVEN POSE THREAT TO HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE TRAVELLING IN TRAINS !!!

Q-6) Can a subway train run on railway tracks ?

Ans) According to me , the answer is yes . Because the most of the subway trains are of meter gauge , which is also the gauge used for railways in many countries around the world . But, this could happen in some countries which have their both subway and standard railway of same gauge ( mostly Meter Gauge)

Q-7) Can we take our pets with us in train journeys ?

Ans) Yes, you can take your pets in your journeys in some countries .

Like , in India you are allowed to take your pets with you in trains. BUT, SOME MEASURES TO BE TAKEN ARE :

a) You have to book your and YOUR PET'S TICKET SEPARATELY.
b) you can only take your pet if you are travelling in First AC Class.
c) All responsibilities of your pet ( like- toilet manner) are yours only .
d) You may be charged fine if any co-passenger complains about your pet during the journey.
